Dutch Organ
History
This one-off custom built organ was constructed in Belgium in 1997 by J.Verbeeck BVA whose company has been building large & small organs since 1884. The organ is named “DE KLEINE KRUMMEL” meaning the small crumb –and has been designed specifically to be played both indoors and outdoors. The music is produced from a cardboard book type which is the traditional method dating back over 100 years.
The organ has a mechanical key box containing 36 keys, triggering pneumatic actions for the 73 pipes, 36 stopped bourdon, 19 violin and 19 flutes. The melody pipes are hand registered to vary the sounds of the organ and to the taste of the organ grinder. As a busking organ it is very manoeuvrable and in Europe until recent years there could be found a small monkey trained to collect donations from anyone showing interest in the music and the organ.
The organ is at home playing stirring marches, delightful waltzes, foot-tapping oompah’s and polkas as well as inviting a sing along with old favourites and ever-greens.
The organ is fully self-contained and is for hire along with the operator for all locations and venues where a musical atmosphere and visual delight is desired by the venue operators and event organisers.
