Clown School

Colin has appeared at numerous schools specially in the Salisbury region. His clown school can occur over a term or as a one off appearance; a community involvement program or as a Vocational Education Training (VET) module.

As organizer of the Salisbury Parade for over 10 years, Colin has trained at least 300 clowns and work-shopped at schools since 1980: Face Painting, Stilt Walking, Routines, Juggling, Costumes and Comedy

If your school or community would like to learn how to be effective clowns at events, fetes, parades and celebrations please be aware clowns skills are highly specialized using objects that if misused, have OH&S issues. Do not use Clown School as an enterprise for dysfunctional, behavior challenged people. However it is a wonderful exercise for: Special, Disabled, Sports Oriented and Gifted people.

Clown School has many occupational Pathways including film and television, acting, sales, costumes, sports. Many Lawyers did drama as an elective subject.

Clown school works best applied as regular weekly sessions. The alternative is an informal performance showing students the art of performance and showmanship. Daddy Long Legs is fully insured for performances but a weekly workshop would have to come under the umbrella of the school/community centre insurances.

Please find a student’s report to their school news Circular and children’s testimonials.

Living Loud
A group of students participated in Living Loud on the 1st April 2007. Living Loud is a free community event held at the Salisbury Oval each year. This year the students painted faces, walked on stilts, rode a unicycle and penguins handed out pamphlets and badges promoting Open Day.

The students who participated all put in 100% and did a fantastic job.

Their clowning enterprise is now called JEST ENUFF, and Jest Enuff has been asked to clown around for BHP Billiton at Roxby Downs. So stay tuned for their next adventure.
